My moms 1998 sears chain drive garage door opener side lift cable broke. Was in Lowes and bought a Genie brand kit / set of 2 universal lift cables compatible with most garage door openers .
when I got it home the cables looked smaller than the original ones- Genie cables were 3/32, originals were 1/8.
I called a local Overhead door company, they said they used only 1/8 lift cables.
I told the Lowes manager about it and I asked why smaller cables, made in china of course???, he called Genie and he asked twice and was told twice, we do not have any info on what the specs are for these cables !!!! This on a Genie branded pack of cables. lowes manager did not believe it either.
he said they would do a refund and also do make up the 1/8 cable I needed.
Im sick of low quality China parts. My employer does business with China, and they will try to cheat every way they can, its a cultural thing.
