There Are 4 Main Types of Openers
Chain Driven Openers
Chain drives are typically the most commonly used and are a very reliable type of opener. This drive runs the garage door on its track by using a metal chain. Chain drives are slightly cheaper than belt drives.
However, chain drive openers tend to be noisy, so if your garage is located below or adjacent to the main rooms in your home, you don’t want this opener. We typically don’t recommend these types of openers because the small savings arent worth it. LiftMaster® also does not warranty the chain for life like it does the belt on the belt drives and the motor is much noisier.
Screw Driven Openers
Screw drive openers use a lifting device that runs on a threaded steel rod, rather than a chain or a rubber belt. These openers tend to only work well in locations where the weather and temperature is constant throughout the year. In areas with a wide range of temperature or weather patterns throughout the year, a screw drive opener is not recommended.

Needs Improvements Not Reliable
I am really stressed with this app. My home is entirely automated, I changed my old motors to this new one thinking they would be better but they are not, the wifi and app technology is horrible. The app is Impossible to use and it does not work all the time, it is REALLY slow to open and close the doors their server has issues all the time which makes their app insanely slow always loading, since I installed it and created a login I keep seeing a pop message: cluster_max_load and that the service cannot connect at this time. How can I trust it to open my doors??! So disappointed. I tested through 4g, and all my different wifi networks. Terrible experience so far, not working. it connects but shows unknown status most of the times. After hours, finally works for some time and the garage door finally communicates, most of the time their server is not responding, which makes me affraid about their infrastructure.

When It Works I Love It But
I use Aladdin Connect to control 3 new Genie openers. When this app works, I like it very much and it can be very useful. However, in the week or so that Ive been using it, various repeating app errors cause me to question its reliability. I have a reliable wifi mesh system with a wifi AP in my garage about 15 feet away. This AP has a strong connection back to the rest of the mesh. All the door sensors have line-of-sight to the Aladdin DCM. Approximately 75% of the time the app works as advertised. But for the other 25% of the time, 3 app errors tend to reoccur. The most prevalent error is cluster_max_load, next is a generic something went wrong dialog and finally occasionally all my doors temporarily disappear from the app. The app does not work at all when any of these 3 errors occur. Even when the app is functional, it often continues to show that a door is still in the process of completing a request 3-5 minutes after successfully opening or closing a door. As things currently stand, Im not confident that this app will work when I really need it.Update: now all my door activity history is missing along with all my configuration Emailed support 24 hours ago and am awaiting their reply. Changed rating down to 2 stars.

Set Up And Programming Aladdin Connect Genie
When installing the Aladdin Connect you will first need to install the Door Control Module in a location
close to the Wi-Fi router and plug the Door Control Module into a wall outlet using the power pack. Next
you will need to visit www.geniecompany.com/aladdinconnect to set up the Aladdin Connect Device.
Follow the on screen instructions to create an account and program the system before wiring in the
garage. There will be an installation prompt to disconnect the power pack and move the system to the
garage for final installation.
In the Garage
1. Plug the Power Pack into a wall outlet and the Door Control Module near the location you want
to mount it.
The Wi-Fi signal indicator light should illuminate indicating the Wi-Fi signal is present. A Green LED light
indicates a strong signal, Yellow indicates a weak signal and RED indicates no signal. Locate an area that
allows optimal Wi-Fi signal. .
2. Once a location with optimal signal is located, unplug the Power Pack from the Door Control
Module and proceed to the next step.
Make sure the garage door opener is unplugged.
3. Split the provided two strand wire about 2 inches then strip about ½ inch of insulation from
the wire.
4. On the back of the Door Control Module press down the orange tabs and insert the wires into
the connection ports for Door 1.
5. The other end of the wire can connect directly to the back of the garage door opener using the
connecting with the wires that connect the wall button to the opener motor.
